The Power of Self Hypnosis
Tap the power of your subconscious mind with self-hypnosis for habit control, peak performance, prosperity, health improvement, and weight loss.
A. What is Hypnosis?
- Hypnosis is a state of deep physical and mental relaxation, so you can connect with the subconscious mind. In this relaxed state you are in a state of suggestibility. Hypnosis is a technique of communication that bypasses the "analyzer" and "critical factor".
- Alchemy is a metaphor for the transformation of consciousness (the lead of emotional debris into the gold of self-realization).
- Alchemical Hypnotherapy is interactive work, using guides such as the inner child & the higher self to empower clients in discovering, aligning with, and living their life purpose. David Quigley studied the spiritual teachings of Shamanism & Buddhism, studied Carl Jung's psychology & Gestalt Therapy, and took courses in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Ericksonian Hypnosis & NLP beginning in1975. In 1984, David developed Alchemical Hypnotherapy.
- The conscious mind is the domain of the analyzer and the critique. The subconscious mind contains emotional complexes, long-term memory, instinct, habits, physiological control mechanisms, and the higher self. The higher self is also contained in the superconscious mind.
B. Functions of Hypnosis:
- Hypnosis is useful for relaxation & stress management, implanting positive suggestions, and releasing emotional blocks by clearing trauma from memory banks.
- Hypnosis completes the nurturing processes (e.g. the inner child), contacts inner guidance (e.g. the higher self), and contacts the autonomic nervous system and immune system to reduce or eliminate pain, and to heal injury and illness.
C. Forms of Hypnotherapy:
- Direct Suggestion - This is "traditional" hypnosis, and suggestive tapes.
- Indirect Suggestion - This is the Ericksonian method, using subliminal tapes, metaphors or storytelling, and buried suggestion.
- Silent Process - NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a silent process. Visual, verbal or tactile cues can be created to trigger a certain thought or feeling for empowerment, happiness, etc . The Circle of Excellence is an example of NLP.
- Interactive Process - Client/therapist verbal communication. Alchemical Hypnotherapy is primarily interactive.
D. Setting Realistic Goals:
- Goals should be SMART: S pecific, M easurable, A chievable, R ealistic, & T imed.
- Goals should be meaningful to you. feel it, see it, taste it, hear it, etc. The more you feel the desire and passion for what you want to achieve, the more real it becomes, and the quicker it will manifest for you.
E. Keys to Effective Suggestion:
- Use direct images of the desired state.
- Use present tense - always in the NOW.
- Use simple, exiting words.
- Create a keyword or phrase, and repeat it frequently (3x).
F. Getting into the Deep State of Relaxation (Induction):
. Progressive Relaxation -
- Breathe deeply. As you inhale, fill your body with white light (or any color that feels right). As you exhale, release all the tension in your body (start at either feet or head, and work your way up or down).
- Breathe deeply. Start with the head (forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks, jaw) and work down the body (shoulders, arms, hands, back, stomach, buttocks, legs, feet). As you inhale, tense each individual muscle group. As you exhale, relax that muscle group, roll it from side to side, and forget about it. Go on to the next muscle group and do the same until you've done the entire body.
- Guided Imagery - Always use all the senses, such as feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting. You can go to a beach on an island, or in a forest or field of flowers, or on a boat ride (perhaps lying down in a boat feeling the warm sun.). Go anywhere that helps you feel relaxed, and imagine all the sights, feelings, sounds surrounding you, etc. You can go down an elevator, or stairs. going deeper into relaxation.
- Going down (a path, steps, elevator, etc.) will tap into your subconscious mind. Going up (a path, steps, etc.) will tap into your superconscious mind and guides (such as your higher self & guardian angels).
Guided Meditations for Self-Hypnosis
Guided meditations help to unlock the subconscious and superconscious mind. It's a great way to relax and relieve stress, heal old negative patterns that are inhibiting your performance or growth, find the root causes of dis-ease (which will eventually become disease if not healed), meet spirit guides and your guardian angels, find your life purpose, etc.
The subconscious mind contains all the memories of past existence . It holds a complete record of all existence in this lifetime and other lifetimes. The subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between what is imagined and what is real, so it's very important to be specific when giving your subconscious mind commands. Example: If you want to lose weight, you wouldn't say, "I want to lose weight". Your body hears that it's "losing" weight and will try to keep it on. Instead you want to rephrase and say, "I want to become slim and physically fit". This also gives you the correct visual of becoming slim and fit, and your body will respond accordingly.
You can reach your Inner Healer through the subconscious mind. For healing yourself, you want to visualize and feel your body healing. See your body mending, restructuring and repairing itself. See the inflammation going down if you have any swelling. Visualize emerald green light filling your cells, creating renewal and healing. Visualize any other colors you feel your body needs for its healing. Your Inner Healer knows best, and when you're in a deep meditative state, you will tap into these sources of wisdom.
The superconscious mind connects you to your higher self or soul , and you can find your life purpose, your Spirit Guides, and connect with other higher realms of consciousness. Find your wisdom and destiny. Evoke your guides... tap into the gentleness, intuitiveness and wisdom of your soul.
When our bodies give out and we exit this plane of existence, our subconscious and superconscious mind is part of the soul, and goes with us. The conscious mind remains with the body and dissipates. That's why we have no memory of past lives unless we tap into the subconscious mind.
Methods of Induction (relaxation techniques to induce your meditative state) for self-hypnosis:
- Progressive relaxation (head to toe - tense muscle, roll and release).
- Count down 10 - 1 slowly (mentally).
- Breathing (pace breath & mental thoughts into slower, deeper breathing).
- Guided imagery (places that are relaxing or healing for you) - Visualize one of these scenes:
- Stairs or mountain- go down stairs or mountain to tap into your subconscious mind, and go up stairs or mountain to tap into your superconscious mind.
- Garden (special healing garden)
The more you get involved with your guided imagery, the better your meditation will be. Use all of your senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch. Imagine yourself, for example, on a beach with the sun warming your body, the sound of the ocean waves rolling in and out, sea gulls flying overhead, the soft, warm sand caressing your toes. You can lie down in the warm sand and feel it gently massaging your skin and relaxing every muscle in your body.
Suggestions for Meditation for the Subconscious mind (You can add these ideas to your guided meditation):
"What do you need to do to be free of your ailment ?"
"Have your Inner Healer place his/her hands on the part of your body that needs healing".
"Have your guide - your Inner Healer - bring you practical advice".
"Now, every time you touch your ___ (part of body)___ , you summon your inner Healer to you".
Suggestions for Meditation for the Superconscious mind:
"Ask for your spirit guides or Guardian Angels to come to you now. Perhaps they have a name or a way of letting you know it's them. Maybe it's a way they touch you, or give you a feeling, or they say or do something to let you know they are with you."
"Perhaps your spirit guides or Guardian Angels have a message for you."
You can bring yourself out of trance with the 3 R's:
- "You will be able to return to this state easily, whenever it is appropriate".
- "You will find it easy to remember everything you need to remember".
- "You will awake feeling alert & refreshed ".
- "Allow your body to move. Notice sensory details in the room around you. Open your eyes... Take a full, deep breath."
I hope this information is helpful to you to have a successful session with self-hypnosis using a guided meditation. Remember, just relax and let it flow. Whatever you see or hear is not your imagination. It is guidance to help with your healing.
