By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
Angels are high Beings, and they are here to help us – all we have to do is ask. The Angelic realm is much different from our own, not only because they reside at a higher frequency, but because they are purely loving and accepting. Angels are not judgmental, and will never look down on you. Instead, they understand your soul… and know that you are learning.
I find that Angels reside mostly in the 6th dimensional frequency, and one of their purposes is to help humans on their journey. We all have Guardian Angels, and they stay with you from lifetime to lifetime. They even assist you in deciding your life purpose, your major life events, and events for your higher learning.
It’s easy to call in your Angelic healing team – you just ask them to come and they will. Seeing and hearing them is another task, though, and it’s not necessary to see or hear Angels for them to hear and see you. Because of Free Will of humans, we must ask the Angels for help – otherwise, they can’t intrude. You can say a prayer to call them in, or just simply ask for their help. Always remember to thank them… having gratitude is a virtue.
People have a tendency to expect a glorious revelation or a miracle happen before their eyes when asking for help, but it usually doesn’t occur this way. When the Angels help you, their assistance doesn’t always come as you expect it. Sometimes a door will have to close behind you before another one can open. For example, if you’re unhappy in your career and you’re ready to make a change but don’t know how, you may get fired or laid off from your current position before you’re available to accept a new position. There may be a time that you’re distraught and feel the Angels didn’t help you at all, because now you feel you have nothing. Sometimes we have to go through a little discomfort in order to be presented with a greater, more fulfilling opportunity. Know that the Angels always help when you ask. Everything has to line up in order for your wishes to be fulfilled.
Angels are up to any task, and they can help with many things but they’ll never interfere with someone else’s rights or Free Will. Anything you ask for must be for the highest good of all. Greed or ill will have no place in the Angelic realm. They can help you with issues involving health, finances, decisions, family, career, etc.
I find that Angels all have specialties like humans do, and different Angels will show up for different questions/challenges. You’ll know when they are with you because they come from a place of love… you’ll feel good in their presence.
They appear to me in different ways… sometimes they float and it appears that they’re wearing long flowing gowns because their energy oscillates. Other times they appear more solid, and will stand in front of me or they’ll stand next to or behind my client. There are times, too, that I’ll only see their face hovering above my clients, and they talk to me. Our communication may be pure telepathy, and there are times they speak to me just as clearly as you and I would talk. They’ll say things like, “You need to tell her this… it’s affecting her health”. Whatever form Angels come in doesn’t matter, just as long as the message is clear.
You can call upon your Angelic Healing Team any time that you need them. Know that they will help you as best they can. If you have an illness or disease, your team can help you to find the right doctor or Naturopath that is really knowledgeable with your type of disease/illness, and they may nudge you to eat certain foods, or stay away from other things that are harming you.
This is important: If you ask Angels questions concerning your health, career, etc., make sure you pay attention to signs. Sometimes a book will fall off a shelf and open to the page of information that can help you with your dilemma. I’m sure you’ve heard of these kinds of things happening to a friend or a family member. Other times it will be more subtle, like meeting a person who knows of a doctor who can help you. If you have a feeling that you should avoid certain foods, or eat certain foods, then do it. If you have gut feelings about your business or health, follow your intuitions – it’s your Angelic team guiding you. Try to get out of your head and logic, and listen to your heart. All really successful business s people become that way from following their gut feelings rather than using logic in making major business decisions. I’m sure you’ve all heard this before, and it’s true.
One more word of advice: No matter what your circumstances are, your health is the most important thing. Without your health you have nothing. (I’m sure you’ve heard that before too).
Any time you have questions about Angel Communication, you can email me and I’ll be happy to assist you.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ©Heal Yourself Through the Power of Your Thoughts By Marilyn Meyer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
In the past, I’ve written a couple of articles about our DNA and our ability to heal ourselves. Believe you can heal, and you will. This is important information, and I feel the more you hear it, read it, and feel it in your body, the more you’ll be able to believe in your own innate abilities. You can heal, and there’s scientific proof that your thoughts give you the power and the control you need to succeed. Healing is an integrated process of your nutritional regimen, how much you exercise, what you do for yourself to relieve stress, and your thoughts. Scientists have been making new discoveries about our genes and our DNA, and have created a new science called epigenetics. Whatever choices you make will affect your body, your mind and your emotions. It carries into your spiritual physique as well. Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene activity that are passed down to at least one generation. The prefix ‘epi’ means ‘above’, and your epigenetic “marks” tell your genes to switch on or off, or to speak loudly or whisper. Dr. Joseph Mercola of the U.S. says that it is through epigenetic “marks” that environmental factors like diet, stress and prenatal nutrition can make an imprint on genes, and be passed from one generation to the next. According to The Quarterly Review of Biology, epigenetics is probably the most important discovery since DNA. A completely new world of possibilities is open to us. There are things we can do to change our genetics, and our health. This works both ways though, and we must be aware that either we can improve our genetics, or we can damage it. In fact, you are changing your genetics daily with the foods you eat, the amount of exercise you get, and by the thoughts you think. DNA can be molded by your will – and like I said before numerous times, your thoughts are powerful! Whatever you think about becomes your reality, so visualize your body healing daily, and it will with time.
Your genes are controlled by epigenetic coding that tells them to be expressed or not to be expressed. This is controlled by your lifestyle, your thoughts, and your environment. Your genes are malleable, and this explains why, for example, identical twins become distinct as they age. One may develop cancer, and the other one does not. One twin may age differently than the other. How you respond to everything in your life affects you on quantum levels. The good news: your mind controls your epigenome; therefore, your mind controls your healing. The science of epigenetics explains spontaneous healing. Remember, epigenetics translated = “above the genes”. Our mind is above our genes! Dr. Bruce Lipton is a leading cellular biologist, and he’s written a number of books including Biology of Belief, The Wisdom of Your Cells and Spontaneous Evolution. He has experimented with cells, and they change their form according to our thoughts. Gregg Braden mentions in his book, Spontaneous Healing of Belief, that everything we experience as “life” is directly linked to what we believe. He states that belief is the “program” that creates patterns in reality. What we believe to be true in life is very powerful in shaping our lives. What you think about and believe to be true becomes your reality… and it’s really important to guard your thoughts, take care of your body and believe you can heal. The human body is a healing machine. We can heal from anything when we give our minds and bodies all the right elements. _____________________________________________________________________________________
©The Healing Powers of Simplicity The many benefits of looking inward for inner healing, peace & happiness. By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
A long time ago I learned to simplify my life, and I became happier and more relaxed. I was fully guided by my Guardian Angels, and I listened. When we make little changes in our lifestyle, it can bring big rewards and will eliminate a lot of the stress load we place upon ourselves. It’s easy to fall into the trap of life’s complexities, and we’re responsible for making it that way. We seem to have an idea that the more we do, the more we accomplish, the more we’re involved – the more we are worth. Competition drives us to work longer hours, and we try to accomplish more to be in the competitive game. If we drive bigger cars, have bigger houses, have lots of nice clothes, and have lots of money, then will we really be happier? If we have all these things, does it truly create happiness? Self worth gets tied up in outward appearances, instead of looking at our inner truths. Our inner self is where our true beauty is. Take a moment to look inward, and reflect on who you really are, and what your passions and life purpose is… and reflect on how you can make changes for your own health and well-being. Even if your passion seems like an impossible task – you feel that you could never support yourself, or you don’t have the time to do what you truly love – it’s always possible. We don’t get ideas and dreams that are impossible to fulfill… it’s just the way the Universe works. If you can create it in your mind, then you can achieve it. Simplifying our lives will reduce stress, and we will be happier & more relaxed as a result. You know the old saying, “k.i.s.s.” (I like “keep it sweet & simple”) – well, it’s true. If we take the time for ourselves each day, then all the other things in life become much more fulfilling and enjoyable. If we’re stressed all the time because we’re taking care of the family, working, doing chores, running errands, etc., etc., etc., then it’s time to make a change. Some things are necessary to do, but I bet you could find a number of things you could either cut out entirely, or cut back. Living a simpler, life has its rewards. Eliminate some unnecessary things in your life, and take control. “Downsize”, as they say. Then make the time for relaxation, walking, meditation, listening to music, being in nature, exercising – all of these things are so healing for your body and your psyche. You’ll be bringing more joy into your life, and your family will feel the difference too. Live simply and with heart… you’ll be happier – guaranteed! ______________________________________________________________________________________ ©The Healing Powers of Nature By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht. Nature provides more than just beautiful scenery – it has the power to heal. The times in my life that I’ve been my healthiest, most intuitive, happiest and most clairvoyant (seeing auras, Angels, etc.) have been when I spent a lot of time outdoors with nature. There’s nothing more peaceful than being alone in the forest, contemplating on all of the beauty that surrounds us. There’s nothing more healing than the natural sounds, sights and fragrances of the natural world. Many people are so busy with their daily life that they don’t take the time to be still, listen to the sounds of nature, and take in the sights of their surroundings and the aromas of fresh “green” air. The healing power of nature is huge, and if you just take some time to quiet yourself and be in the company of nature, you’ll find that you’ll begin to appreciate every living thing… and you’ll harmonize with the soft synchronized rhythm that every plant, mineral and animal is in accord with. As you may already know – everything in the Universe is interconnected. In order to feel and fully comprehend just how interconnected we truly are, one must quiet oneself and feel… listen… appreciate… The easiest way to do this is to go outside in a quiet place and take in all the beauty around you. Watch the birds, the trees movements, and the plants – and put yourself in their place. Feel what they feel, and see what they see. Then close your eyes, open your heart and be still. Imagine you are One with the natural world. Imagine that you are breathing with them, and breathing with our planet. Feel deep gratitude and love for all living things.
If you want to see Angels, and if you want to be able to see auras and communicate with the Angels, Archangels, Ascended Masters and the Elemental Kingdom – spend time with them and their beloved plants, minerals and animals with an open heart and clear mind. If you have an open heart while communing with nature, your chakras (*see note) will clear and become balanced, and the vibration of your Being will raise to a level that will put you at a frequency to encounter the Angels. If you want to heal, spend time with nature. Nature has healing properties, and you don’t always have to eat it in order for it to heal you. I would find that when I went to the mountain stream in the Catskill mountains in New York and spent the entire day there, I would have to take out my contact lenses because everything became blurry. When I did, I could see everything perfectly clear – as though I had my contacts in! Not only that, but I saw the auras surrounding all of the trees and plants. I appreciated the beauty of life and every little creature – including insects. I was totally One with all life. If I had an injury or was upset about something, it seemed to magically heal. When I was in my 20’s and in college, I used to spend a lot of time in the Catskill mountains during the summer. I had a favorite spot where I would go swimming in the mountain stream – all alone with the wilderness. There was a beautiful waterfall, and a deep pool of icy cold water that I loved to plunge into on a hot day. Then, after jumping out of the frigid water, I would lay up on this big, flat rock in the middle of the stream to sunbathe. When I quieted my mind of other thoughts and focused on nature, I discovered that I was breathing with the rock. We were One… totally synchronized with one another – what a beautiful experience! It was then that I realized once again – after forgetting for many years – how interconnected we are, and that everything is alive and with consciousness! I mean EVERYTHING! Rocks and minerals absorb wisdom of the Collective Unconscious, and crystals amplify the loving energy of the Universe. Very healing! When I was a child, I was able to telepath with the plants and the trees. I’m still able to do this, and I always knew that all living things have thoughts, feelings and emotions. If they weren’t able to think, I wouldn’t have been able to communicate with them. I learned a great deal about trees from the trees communicating with me. One time when I was 6 or 7 years old, I climbed the big Copper Beech tree that was next to my grandparent’s house. It was three stories high – the same height as their house. I climbed to the top for the very first time, and when I got up there, I looked down and panicked. I couldn’t figure out how to get back down, and it looked like the ground was so far away! The tree telepathed with me, and guided me down branch by branch until I was on the ground. The human body has its own intelligence, too. I telepath with my clients organs to help get to the root cause of why they aren’t functioning or feeling well. Organs have feelings just like we do – it’s not so surprising – they are a living essence too. Being in contact with the human body in such a way has made me very respectful of my own body. We don’t own our body; instead, we have a mutual and synergistic relationship with it. Our body and our soul work together as a team. Go outside and enjoy some time with the natural world today. Do nothing – just feel…Breathe deeply, and just Be. Be One with the life force of nature. You’ll be surprised at its healing properties. *Chakras – Energy vortexes that assimilate Universal Chi energy, and step down the higher frequency so that our 3rd dimensional bodies can utilize this energy. Without Chi, our bodies die. There are seven major chakras, and it’s important to keep these clear and balanced so that your body has the ability to heal itself. Healing is a multi-faceted process. Meditation has proven to help with healing, to alleviate stress and to bring clarity. One can discover their life purpose and their true self through meditation. Meditation has been validated by scientific studies, and astonishing experiments with DNA proves that DNA can heal itself according to the "feelings" of the individual as reported recently by Gregg Braden, author of Spontaneous Healing of Belief. In the book, The Biology of Belief, by Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., Bruce discusses Epigenetics, which literally means, “control above the genes”. Dr. Bruce Lipton is a former medical school professor and research scientist who has discovered through his experiments that DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. Our perceptions of life shape our biology.
Meditating, or focusing on and imagining that you are actually healing right now is a major key to your healing, and will prompt your DNA to change itself to be in a healthy and whole state. It will allow you to take control of your thoughts, emotions, illness or disease. Whether you have cancer or any physical illness or disease, or if you had severe childhood traumas that are affecting your life now – meditation can be an aid and help you to heal. Your techniques for meditation should be as effortless as possible. Meditating is not difficult, and there are different forms of meditation. For some people, the easiest way to meditate is using visualization, or sounds (such as “Om” or music/drumming) in order to stay focused. If you can use your imagination, then you can create imagery to help you to heal. Imagine the part of you that needs healing, and focus your intent on healing that area. Imagine that your cancer or disease is leaving your body – shriveling and drying up until it’s so tiny that it disappears – both physically and energetically. Imagine that your vein, or organ, etc, is filled with healing light and changing to its natural perfection. This works! Imagine that you can go back in time and change the physical or emotional abuse that you endured as a child. Imagine a hero or a giant animal – like a dinosaur (be creative here) jumping in and rescuing you. Perhaps you can imagine that you had the most loving and nurturing parents on the planet. However you need to do it, change in your mind the outcome of your childhood trauma or situation, and release it. You will feel the difference in your body. You don’t have to be the “victim” anymore – you’re taking charge, and taking responsibility for your own life in a new way. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what is imagined and what’s real, and by going back and mentally changing the incident(s), you are changing the reaction that your body had to the incident(s) in the past. You are changing the cell memory.
You don’t need to hang on to the trauma that it caused you physically, mentally and emotionally anymore. Forgive whoever was involved, and move on. Remember, you don’t have to forgive the act – just the person for being human and having human frailties. Most people have some sort of dysfunctional way of handling situations – either because they let their own negative emotions get in the way, or because they were brought up by dysfunctional parents and they don’t know any better. Every situation is an opportunity for learning – learn from it and move on with your life in a whole and healthy way. You are worthy of goodness. Feel your self-worth… allow it to come forth. Say to yourself, “I am a worthy person, and I deserve to be healthy, healed and whole”. ___________________________________________________________________________ ©The Healing Powers of Forgiveness By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht Forgiveness, or lack of it has a tremendous impact on our well-being and health. For the last 11 years I’ve been practicing Reiki and Hypnotherapy, and I’ve seen many clients who couldn’t forgive themselves, a friend, or a family member for an overt act or an act of unkindness. It is my client who ends up ill or with a disease, chronic pain or depression from unforgiveness - they’re the ones who suffer. Forgiving Yourself Forgiving yourself is probably one of the most difficult tasks. I think it’s easier to forgive others. Everything that’s in the past is over, and there’s nothing we can do about it. It doesn’t help us physically, mentally or emotionally to dwell on past events and the ways we would have changed them if we had the opportunity to do it over again. If you can look at life as though we’re all in a University, and we’re living this life to learn & to grow, we also are here to learn from our past experiences. You can view that experience as a valuable lesson – as an opportunity for learning, and let go of it. It took me awhile to let go of my past mistakes, but I did it. It may or may not take awhile to really let go and have self-forgiveness. Forgive yourself, and release the negative energy. Just let it go… One of my clients had a very difficult time forgiving herself for the mistakes she thought she made with a past relationship. She mulled it over and over again in her mind, always wishing she had said and done something different. She felt she should have, or could have… you get the picture – we’ve all tortured ourselves in this manner at one time or another. As a result, she was very depressed, she had aches & pains everywhere (she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia) and she had low self-esteem. When she finally let it go and truly forgave herself, her depression lifted. She became happier and more energetic, and the aches and pains disappeared. Be free of the past. Live in the NOW. Live, and learn. It’s that simple if you decide to let go. Set your intentions now, and forgive yourself for everything that you think needs forgiving. Choose to no longer let it hold you back. Practice forgiveness, and you’ll free your spirit to live positively each day, unburdened by your past “learning opportunities”. Forgiving Others If you carry a grudge for a long time and finally let it go, it brings a real sense of relief when you decide to forgive. This freedom of forgiveness is cleansing and refreshing. Forgiveness lightens your load and refreshes your soul. Forgiveness helps you to move forward in a positive direction. It’s like removing an obstacle or a heavy burden. Forgiveness not only heals our physical, mental & emotional bodies, but it heals the soul. You don’t have to forgive the act – just the person. If you can forgive the person for being human with human frailties, then YOU can heal. If you live with unforgiveness, it will eventually manifest in your body as dis-ease or disease. Forgiving someone does not mean you have to trust them – it simply means moving on. Forgiveness does not mean you’ll be more vulnerable, and it doesn’t mean that what happened is acceptable. It just means you are letting it go – finally. Another client had chronic low back pain. She was really upset over an incident with a friend that happened many years ago, and she never forgave her. She never saw her friend again. Once she was able to forgive her friend for being human (she didn’t have to forgive the act), her chronic pain subsided. When you have been hurt, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by passing the pain on to another person. By forgiving another person for whatever has been done, you are choosing to no longer let those past actions hold you back. It’s all about choice. You can either hold a grudge and let it ruin your relationship and your life/health, or you can let go of the resentment and let your relationship and/or your health heal. Even if you never want to see or to speak to that person again for the rest of your life, you can let the negative energy of unforgiveness release – and be released from its grip. When you hold onto the past and you don’t allow forgiveness, you are allowing yourself to be the victim. Choosing to be the victim can create havoc in your body, and in your spiritual growth. We cannot grow spiritually if we hold on to past grudges. When you let it go, you can get on with your life. When you let it go, your body can begin the healing process. The chronic pain some of my clients experienced actually disappeared after they had true forgiveness in their hearts. I’ve found that when I really soul searched, I found little things that I needed to forgive. I needed to forgive my stepson & stepdaughter for things that they said and did when I first came into their lives. When I realized that I was unforgiving and held resentment, I was able to let it go. My perception of them changed, and as a result my heart opened toward them. I felt like a weight lifted off my chest and my body, and I was lighter and I felt a shift in consciousness. The burden of resentment was freed and healed. When I had true forgiveness in my heart, our relationship became totally different, and we truly loved each other. We became respectful of each other… and caring. I didn’t even tell them how I felt or that I had to forgive them – everything just changed for the better. The Universe works in wonderful ways when we have true forgiveness and love in our hearts. Be Free Forgiving another and/or ourselves for being human helps your spirit to soar and you’ll be unburdened by the past mistakes of others and yourself. It allows the energy to flow in a positive manner, and it allows for the opportunity to heal our relationships and ourselves. ___________________________________________________________________________ ©The Healing Powers of Love & Living Without Fear By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
Neale Donald Walsch said, “It has been made very clear to me that every thought, word and action in the life of any physical being in the Universe originates in one of two places – what we call in our language here on Earth, love or fear. These are the original binary Numbers of the Universe. They are the “0” and the “1” of the computer program of Life Itself”. All things emerge from either love or fear. Everything we think and do, and all the decisions we make is either love-based, or fear-based.
Living with the Power of Fear: When a person lives in fear… fear of dying, fear of losing a job or a relationship, fear of not having enough money, fear of illness or disease, and on and on… it makes us more receptive to the very things we fear. We attract the things we fear most in life by giving them thought, form and power. What we think about becomes our reality. You are like a magnet, and you attract all the negative things you think about and want to avoid. If you really want to avoid the things you fear in life, then you must let go of the fears. Easier said than done, I know. Fear = being touchable to the things you fear the most Letting go of fear means living in a state of love.
Here are 2 of my true life stories to make the point:
Back in 1975 I lived in New York City, and was riding the subway alone at 1:30am. There were no other people in my car on the train, and there were no cops around. I was reading a book by Lobsang Rampa (a Tibetan Lama & spiritual leader at the time). A group of young guys came in to the car of the train I was in, and stood right in front of me staring at me. They were a street gang – hoodlums. I looked up at them with a smile and said hello, and looked each one of them in the eyes. I saw in their eyes their true soul & spirit that they really were… young and emotionally traumatized, and I saw their goodness – as though they were children. Even though they had knives and chains, I then returned to my book to continue reading. This might sound odd to you, but I was in a loving state from reading this book. The leader of the gang asked me what I was reading, and I told him what the book was about. Again I smiled at all of them – and they smiled back! The leader of the gang said to the others, “Come on, let’s go to the next car”. We said goodbye and that was it! I was totally without fear, and totally filled with love. Their intention I’m sure was to steal and/or rape or beat me. But because I was fearless and in a state of lovingness, they left me alone.
Another story I can tell you happened with 2 guard dogs. I was lost and walking in the wrong place in NYC, and 2 big Doberman Pinchers ran toward me with their teeth barred & growling. I called to them with baby talk and told them it’s okay, don’t be afraid. I must have been insane at the time, but that’s what I did. Again, I was totally fearless, and love poured out of my heart for the 2 dogs. They then ran up to me with their tails wagging, and I petted them, then I left.
Because I was without fear, I was a magnet for love and giving love. The street gang felt it, and so did the guard dogs. I was harmless in their eyes and hearts, and it disarmed them.
These may be extreme examples of living without fear, but it shows you the power of love and positive thinking. It shows you the power of being fearless and having courage with a perceived enemy. It shows you the power of our thoughts, and that we can conquer anything that flows our way…
Living with the Power of Love: Living in a state of love = being untouchable. Illness, disease, poverty, feeling lack, etc., doesn’t penetrate our thoughts, because our thoughts are elsewhere. Our thoughts are more concerned with health, fitness, doing things that make us happy and creating fulfillment. As a result, the positive thoughts penetrate our body, our mind and our spirit. We live and act in a more vibrant state, and we act – instead of react.
From a physicists’ point of view, the laws of attraction work at a quantum level. Our DNA and cells will continually make quantum changes, for good or bad. By loving our cells and our whole Being, we can make changes in our health, our relationships and our business.
Here is a meditation to help you overcome fear & disease, and to live in a state of love & wellness. I use this meditation daily, and the varicose veins I once had in my legs are gone. I find it easiest to do early in the morning before I get out of bed, and at night just before I go to sleep:
Turn your awareness to your heart space and concentrate on feeling the emotions of love, joy and gratitude. Allow the feelings to build and build inside your heart… Now, breathe deeply, and calmly.
As you inhale (take a deep breath), feel a huge ball of white light or Chi over your head. As you exhale, send this white light (Chi) through your entire body… cleansing, clearing and protecting your body as this white light reaches every cell. Do this for as long as you need to.
Now, as you breathe, fill every cell in your body with healing light, which emanates a beautiful, clear emerald green. (Archangel Raphael, who is a healer, glows with this emerald green light. Every time I see him around my clients, he glows a very clear, brilliant emerald green). Continue talking to the body part that needs healing, sending it loving and healing thoughts.
When you are ready to complete this healing process, begin to stretch… and open your eyes. Feel all the love and joy you created for yourself.
I hope this meditation is helpful, and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to call me at 770-924-7581, or send me an email at Marilyn@LightHealer.net
Namaste.

The Heart Speaks Softly by Mike Litrel, M.D.
My patient was unusually apprehensive before her surgery. The operation would be a simple laparoscopy. Through a small incision under her belly button, I would look inside to diagnose and treat the cause of her increasing pain. The day before, she had been comfortable with our plans for surgery. But that morning she was very frightened and nothing I did could put her at ease. At first she was too embarrassed to tell me why. But finally she admitted she was upset because of a bad dream. She dreamed she was going to die during the operation. Although the medical literature doesn’t support the decision, we postponed her surgery. Her face flooded with relief and gratitude, and I knew it was the right thing to do But her husband was angry. The surgery had been planned for a month. He had taken off work and gotten her to the hospital at six that morning. He rolled his eyes in disgust when I told him why I’d cancelled her surgery. Because of a dream? Where did I get my medical degree? Voodoo School? He seemed less interested in my explanation and more interested in taking me outside to settle the issue. I became angry and defensive as the insults kept coming, and I started wondering if maybe a fistfight wasn’t such a bad idea. Instead, I told him about Mrs. Strickland. I met her as a third year medical school student. The Cardiology Chief had told Mrs. Strickland she needed a catheter placed in her heart. But she was frightened and refused the procedure. He considered her too ill to leave the hospital and refused her wishes to be discharged. She had been in the hospital for a week when I met her. Mrs. Strickland was a pleasant elderly woman, and I was happy with the assignment the Cardiology Chief gave me. “Spend time with her and convince her to get the cath.” It was my first year out of the classroom and like other third year students, I was mostly useless to my medical team. The cardiologists were so busy they didn’t have the time to spend with Mrs. Strickland. So I welcomed the opportunity to contribute. I looked forward to our meals together. I could tell our conversations helped her feel better. She had grown up on a farm in northern Georgia but didn’t have much family left. She spoke slowly and laughed softly when she shared a pleasant memory. I told her about myself, too, and we became friends. The Cardiology team was a wonder. Emory University is a cardiology powerhouse, the birthplace of Balloon Catheter Angioplasty. The foremost experts in the world work and train there, performing this marvelous technique. I watched the Cardiology Chief operate on patient after patient, improving life, and holding death at bay. My faith in the life-saving power of technology grew. Mrs. Strickland did not share this faith. She still refused the procedure. “I think I’m going to die if I have this done,” she told me. When I shared her fears with the Cardiology Chief, he became exasperated: “She’ll die sooner without it.” So I redoubled my efforts to convince her. And after another week, she reluctantly agreed. I was happy when I wheeled her down to the lab the next morning. At last we could help her. She smiled at me, and I held her hand as she was sedated. She died on the table a few minutes later. We had no warning. The procedure had barely begun. Even the Cardiology Chief didn’t seem to know what was going on. There was confusion in his voice—and fear. He raced to get her heart beating again. But nothing worked, and the resuscitation became desperate. Then just as unexpectedly, her heart began to beat again. Remarkably, the next morning, she was back to her old self. Ashamed that I had so readily dismissed her fears, I had trouble meeting her smile. I began to explain what had happened. Her next statement stopped me cold. “I was there, too, you know. I remember everything.” She told me that when her heart had stopped she could see her body lying on the table, with the cardiology team frantically trying to bring her back. She saw me looking very frightened, standing out of the way. But it was peaceful, she remembered, and as she was floating above the room she wondered to herself if maybe it was a good time to die. “But you’ve been so nice to me, and I knew it would upset you if I died,” she said, holding my hand. “So I decided I wouldn’t go just yet.” Dumbfounded, I stared at her in amazement. Two mornings later we sent her home. “Let’s get her out of here before we kill her,” the chagrined Cardiology Chief told me. And modern medicine beat a confused but grateful retreat. I’ll always remember Mrs. Strickland and the wonderful gift of her return to life. She was the first patient to teach me humility and show me something the medical literature never could: she taught me to listen, listen carefully, to the heart. It’s a mistake to place all of your faith in technology or in the surgeon. The gift of healing is a miracle, like the gift of birth, and the physician is only a witness to this miracle, not the source. So I finished telling my patient’s angry husband about Mrs. Strickland, and again I offered my hand. This time he shook it, and thus we successfully avoided a fistfight. Weeks later, I performed his wife’s surgery when she finally felt ready. And, thank God, she was healed. __________________________________________________________________________
©Keys to the Heart & Healing
Recently I read an article about Uri Geller. Back in the 1970's he became famous for being able to bend metal, such as silverware, with his thoughts. I read that he was able to do this with loving energy that was directed by his mind. In his mind, he also saw the spoon or object as already bent. I thought to myself, "I can do that... that's exactly what I do when I'm working with my clients". When I'm with a client during a Reiki session, the 1 st thing I do is fill their energy field and fill every cell in their body with love, which emanates a rose pink light. Then I fill every part of their being with healing emerald green light. I'm a medical intuitive, and I also can 'scan' my client's body internally with my 'inner vision' to see where there is something physically wrong. I can telepath (speak mentally) with my client's organs to get to the root cause of illness or dis-ease, or to find out what my client is doing that's causing problems for that organ. When I find it, I work on healing the area, such as 'shrinking' inflammation or 'cleansing' an organ. Then I see the area or organ as completely healed - in a state of perfection. I'm envisioning the body as already healed, which is the same as Uri Geller seeing the spoon as already bent. Many of my clients do heal miraculously. The reason is - love heals . I direct pure loving energy into the area that needs healing and see that area in its perfect, healed state. This healing, loving energy actually emits from my heart chakra as well as from my hands. Generally, energy healing emits Chi or Universal life force energy from the hands. I go way beyond what the typical energy healer does during a session, and loving energy combined with intent is very powerful. So when I read about Uri, I decided to try bending a spoon right then. I used the same technique I use with my clients. I let the spoon balance on my index finger at the balance point of the handle. Then I ran my right hand over the "energy field" of the spoon, and it bent 15 degrees in a few minutes! I surrounded the spoon with loving, healing energy. After all, it started out as minerals dug up from the Earth, which equals trauma, and then it was changed in form to something entirely different. I felt the spoon "melt" on my finger (I had my eyes closed). My finger was pulsing rapidly during this process, and it was hard to keep my eyes closed. When I did open my eyes, the spoon was bent! Some of my friends and clients tried bending the spoon with their hands, and it was rock solid - they couldn't bend it. This shows you the power of the heart. That's right, the heart, not the mind. Love is the true healer of all things. I first learned of the power of love many years ago from a beautiful Ascended Master who helps me with Reiki healings, and gives me spiritual guidance. His name is Jesus. I first saw Jesus when he came to help me while I was with a client during a Reiki session. I saw these giant, loving hands surround my client's body, and I felt it was him. I felt his loving energy, and knew in my heart that it was him. When I asked him what his name was, he said "who do you think I am?" I said, "You are Jesus " and he said, "Yes, that's correct". Since that time he has been with me for most of my sessions (I call upon him), and I always ask him many questions. Spirit guides (angels, archangels, ascended masters, etc.) can be in more than one place at a time, and they help many people at once. I've learned so much from Jesus and other Ascended Masters. One of the things he taught me is that it's unconditional love with focused intent that heals. Pure unconditional love, directed by the mind is very powerful. Believing something and knowing something are two different things. When you believe something, you are using the faculties of your mind. When you know something, it comes from within your heart consciousness, or your soul. I KNEW I could bend the spoon. There is one thing that I learned over the years about healing. it comes with KNOWING in your heart that you will heal. In 1975 I knew in my heart that it was ridiculous for me to get a cold every winter. I said with great conviction that I was never, ever going to get a cold again. I said with conviction (and believed and knew it) that there was absolutely no reason to get sick, and that it was all psychological that I would get a cold every winter. I said, "From now on, I'll stay healthy every winter". Guess what? I never had a cold again to this day! You must KNOW it is possible that someone can be healed when all doctors have given up. You must KNOW that you can accomplish something --- even though it has never been done before. KNOWING comes from the heart. When you have a knowing about something, you can believe its true, because your heart will never lie to you. Your heart is part of your superconscious mind, or your soul. On the other hand, your mind is limited, and its purpose was originally to be a faculty in service to the heart - not the other way around. It is the mind's role to learn and analyze. It is the heart's role to choose and do. Hearts connect, while minds separate. Living in the place of the heart brings unity (feeling one with others & all life, including plants and nature). Living in the place of the mind brings duality (or feeling separate from others & nature). This is the key to accomplishing anything you want (as long as it is with good intention for your highest good and the highest good of all). Loving heart energy, combined with the mind directing or orchestrating the heart's desires creates unlimited potential . "Pure potentiality in the field of all possibilities" - As Deepak Chopra would say. __________________________________________________________________________ ©The Healing Powers of Giving & Gratitude By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht. When you do something nice for someone, don’t you feel good deep down inside? Giving to others raises our vibration… it is good for our health and our soul. Giving creates an abundance of joy, and raises us to a higher consciousness.
When we give from our heart, we open our heart and allow great abundance to come pouring into our lives. Giving gives meaning and fulfillment to life, and makes such a difference to the lives of others. This is true wealth. When we give, we are giving our love, and we’re helping to create happiness in others. The more we give, the more we receive in unexpected ways. It doesn’t matter how much or what type of thing we give – whether it is our time, money or just doing nice things for others… reaching out with a helping hand with warmth and love is all that matters. Giving and gratitude go hand in hand. Many years ago there was a time that I didn’t care much about helping others, or giving of my time or money to causes that would help mankind. There were times that I felt, “What’s the use – I’m only one person, and how can I make a difference”. The fact is, every little thing we do makes a difference one way or another – it has either a positive impact, or a negative one. As the years passed, I noticed that because of the energy healing work that I do, my heart wants to give more and more. I’m willingly spending more time with people and animals, and I do all that I can to help the environment. The more I give, the more aware I’ve become of others needs. The more kind, caring & compassionate I became, the more grateful I was for everything that I have such as good health, a beautiful & loving family, and the abundance of nature that surrounds me. The more gratitude I had, the more good things would flow my way, and the more loving and joyful I became. The more love & joy that I spread to others, the more abundance and prosperity would flow to me. Gratitude creates abundance. Being grateful opens the flow of the Universe, and creates more wonderful experiences and opportunities to flow our way. When we live in a loving state of gratitude, our health improves, our energy increases, and our DNA actually lengthens and changes for the better. Negative thoughts shorten our DNA strands, and loving, positive thoughts lengthen it. This has been scientifically proven, and gratitude can have a real, positive impact on our lives and the quality of our life – and on our DNA. Contemplating on the things that we’re grateful for heals us on a cellular level. When we’re in a loving state, healing always takes place – even if it’s on an infinitesimal scale. Those little healings can add up over the years, and we can become happier, healthier and more vibrant. Here’s to life, and all the little things to be benevolent and to be grateful for! ___________________________________________________________________________ ©Healing From Traumas & Their Grip on Your Health By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
So many people have been through a traumatic experience that can affect them for the rest of their life. It shows up as disease, depression, cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and can take on many other forms or guises as well. As a Reiki Master and Clinical Hypnotherapist, I’ve had so many clients that have had diseases, chronic pain or depression, and the root cause was a past trauma that never healed. Instead, it was buried deep in the subconscious mind and manifested itself in undesirable ways. Childhood traumas can affect a person for the rest of their life, unless it’s brought to the surface and healed. Sexual abuse, accidents, surgery, diseases, being bullied as a child, sudden loss of a loved one or a pet, verbal & physical abuse all can cause harm to the physical, mental & emotional bodies of an individual. In cases of sexual abuse, the child victim is usually told that if he/she tells anyone then their pet or a family member will be physically harmed. This causes enormous stress for the child victim, and can cause problems with their throat, sexual organs and heart in their adult life, among other things. Sexual abuse especially has deep ramifications for the victim of such abuse. It’s a shocking statistic… 25+% of all females have been victimized by sexual abuse. This statistic may be higher because women may either not talk about it, or they may not remember it. Usually when a person is sexually abused, it will show up as disease of their reproductive organs. This especially happens with women, and sometimes they remember the abuse but other times it is so repressed in the subconscious mind that it’s not immediately accessed for healing. During a Reiki session, the deep layers slowly rise to the surface, one by one, and can be released with ease. For my clients, this is a gentle process of releasing and healing. She/he doesn’t have to go through the trauma of remembering the sordid details in order for it to release and heal. Many adults are functioning as the adaptive child who has to “fit in”. As children we learn to adapt to behave, think and act as our parents and society wants us to. We repress our true nature. As children, our feelings were an expression of our basic needs for love, affection, freedom, play, food, companionship, etc. If certain basic needs remain unmet in one of childhood’s developmental stages, they carry over into the next stage. Although the unmet needs are usually repressed in order to facilitate our physical and emotional survival, they remain as an active “residue” of immature feelings, emotions and needs in the subconscious mind. This causes complexes, creates behavior disorders (including addictions) and drains away our capacities for creativity, power & intimacy. Our feelings are then no longer an appropriate response to our environment. They instead present as reactive responses, not as natural responses. They are often inappropriate because they reflect the childhood traumas or neglect that is being re-stimulated by the external circumstances of our lives. Our true feelings are repressed and hidden from us, which results in chronic depression, anxiety and boredom. It can also result in physical symptoms such as pain, tension, disease, being overweight, a compromised immune system, aggressive behavior and addictions. In Hypnotherapy, the client is in a medium trance, which is an interactive process. They can communicate what they’re seeing and feeling at a subconscious level. Personally I think Reiki is a much nicer process than Hypnotherapy because a person doesn’t have to relive the trauma in order for it to heal. With Hypnotherapy, you go back to the first time or the most traumatic time of occurrence. There are many involved processes with Hypnotherapy, and part of it involves communicating with the perpetrator (through Ethereal Plane Communication). There is a lot of inner child work, including rescuing the inner child, possibly creating new “inner parents” if their parents are still dysfunctional, and many other processes in order to fully heal. A few years ago, one of my clients had cancer of the cervix and already had surgery when she came to see me. She had been depressed for many, many years, and there was no clinical reason for it. During the Reiki session, I “saw” the root cause. I mentioned to my client that I “felt” she may have been sexually abused as a child, and she had no recollection of such a trauma. The first few sessions helped alleviate some of the depression and cleared some of her chronic pains, but it was during the 4th session that the deeply suppressed memories began to lift out of her body. She remembered parts of the abuse and where it happened in her home, but she didn’t have to relive the trauma. She did have a lot of the suppression caught in her throat, and she coughed considerably as it came up for healing. The suppressed anger, fear, pain and feelings of betrayal and helplessness all cleared and released gently. The heaviness in her heart lifted as if we were peeling an onion – the layers of pain were being removed and dissolved. Today (a few years later) my client is happy and pain-free. She has a new-found freedom, and has had no reoccurrence of cancer. The depression totally cleared and she is healed from the childhood trauma. It is wise to seek help, because sometimes we can’t do it alone. When we suppress our feelings, we close off a part of us which is hard to uncover and unlock by ourselves. Besides Reiki, you can get help with TFT (Thought Field Therapy) but for this to work a person needs to remember the trauma(s). You can also see a Hypnotherapist who specializes in traumas, & Rebirthing Breathwork. Wherever you decide to seek help, be guided by your heart as to the therapy that will work best for you. ©Stewardship & Conscious Evolution for Healing Ourselves and Our Planet By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht. Healing occurs on many levels, and when the subtle heart is open, so is our consciousness. Being conscientious, respectful and taking care of the Earth is very healing on all levels: for our spirit and our bodies, and for our mind. Merging the divine with our conscious mind allows the subtle heart to open. The idea of all things being interconnected has been a part of authentic spiritual traditions. Living in separation from self, the Earth and others has caused imbalance on our planet and within ourselves. Most humans rarely consider the ramifications to anything outside of their immediate environment. Animals and plants are rarely taken into consideration when making decisions about where to build a home or a town, or what chemicals we’re pouring into the water, or how farm animals and pets are treated. How we relate to our fellow creatures and the world in which we reside says much about our stage of development and self-realization. From a scientist’s point of view, we are a fraction of the universe – but at the same time we are linked to all other fragments/fractions, and this link is established by resonance. Each fragment not only vibrates of its own accord, but it echoes or re-creates the sound from all other fragments. The more subtle we become in our awareness, the more completely we can discover the interrelatedness and the interdependence of all things. Everything is living – including rocks and minerals. Everything has consciousness and vibration. Plants and trees grow better when there are the sounds of birds singing around them. Humans are more relaxed with the sounds of nature – as opposed to the sounds of traffic, construction and other man-made noises. When I was in my 20’s (back in the 70’s) I spent a lot of time in the mountains… swimming in mountain streams, hiking and camping alone under the stars – usually without a tent. I became one with nature, and realized that our planet was a living, breathing organism, with thought and consciousness. I felt the Earth breathe underneath me, and felt the consciousness & thoughts of the rock that I would lay on to sunbathe by the mountain stream. I saw the auras around all the trees and the plants, and I felt One with our planet and all living things. We are One… According to Bell’s theorem, when there are two electrons in harmonious vibration, even though they may be a Universe apart – when you change the spin of one, the other will change its spin too. As we re-awaken our subtle hearts, and realize our own connection with the living world, we realize our responsibility to care for our planet and ourselves. When we become the stewards of the land, and stewards of our bodies and thoughts, then we can positively affect fields of subtle resonance that will lead the world, self and others toward a state of creative harmony, well-being and compassion. We’re made of the same stuff and the same creative impulses of our planet. Our planet is a living, breathing entity. We’re a living, breathing entity. Everything we do affects everything else, so we must be mindful of everything we think and do. The word ‘human’ literally means God-Consciousness. Our thoughts create our real world, and if we think and do with our God minds, we’ll create peace, abundance, and live respectfully and harmoniously with all of nature and ourselves. Respectfully and With Love, Marilyn Cancer, Surgery and . . . Reiki By Kathie Lipinski, R.N. Everyone knows someone who has experienced cancer. Most people have had to undergo surgery at least one time in their lives. In this article, I would like to share a different way to go through the experience of cancer and, or, surgery. Both cancer and surgery (and even just the thought of them) can evoke feelings of fear . . . fear of death, fear of disfigurement, and fear of the loss of the lifestyle that one is currently living. The knowledge of having to undergo surgery, or receiving a diagnosis of cancer, is a total experience that involves feelings, thoughts, physical sensations, as well as questioning of one's connection to a higher power. The western medical way is to treat the symptoms or "cut out" the problem. These solutions put the body further out of balance because the body has to adjust to the new medicine and its side effects, or the removal of a part of the body thus changing the way it functions. The "cure" often creates more problems for the person to deal with then what they were first experiencing. For example, chemotherapy or radiation treatments are necessary poisons to the body and create their own miseries. A different way to approach the experience of surgery or a cancer diagnosis and treatment is to consider the use of Reiki. As an ancient eastern healing technique, Reiki works to put the body back into balance. It works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual realms of each experience. Reiki can calm the emotions, decrease or remove physical pain, calm the anxious and chattering mind and help one to reconnect with their spirituality. It also helps to cleanse the body of toxins and speed up and strengthen the body's ability to heal itself. It can make the experience of chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, more tolerable. In my private practice I see many people with cancer: in the early stages, before surgery, during chemotherapy or radiation treatment, and after surgery. I also see people who are preparing for different types of surgery. Several women have come to me in "preparing" for a hysterectomy with hopes of making it a better experience. How this works is that a person comes for several Reiki treatments before surgery. This puts the body in the best shape. It is like a cleansing or strengthening of the system before the "injury" of surgery. People that have had "pre-op" Reiki treatments have found that they have less pain, minimal blood loss and inflammation during the surgery, and are up on their feet soon after surgery. They also experience little or no pain. They then continue with Reiki treatments for several weeks after surgery, which speeds up and supports the healing process. On their follow-up doctors' visits, their physicians often comment, "how fast you healed. Whatever you did, keep it up." The people I have worked with that are currently undergoing chemotherapy, or radiation treatment, have told me that the Reiki treatments help them feel better. Reiki can help release the toxins of their treatment and lessen their discomfort. Reiki can also calm their emotions, help them to deal with the fatigue, and strengthen them so that they can "keep on keeping on" during the difficult time. Some people have even told me that after a Reiki treatment, the nausea and vomiting is less. A Reiki treatment is also good for the caregiver or support person. Reiki can help them stay strong for their loved ones. The effect that energy healing can have on a person undergoing heart surgery or radical lifesaving procedures, was written about in the book "Hands of Life" by Julie Motz. Ms. Motz is an energy healer that has worked in the Operating Room in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City with Dr. Metmet Oz, a heart surgeon. They were first written up in the New York Times in August of 1995, for the extraordinary "synthesis of high-tech medicine and ancient healing wisdom." In the book, Ms. Motz offers the prospective of how "totally unprepared the body seems to be for what is happening to it." And, "no one has thanked the body, either in parts or as a whole, for its courage in undergoing this ordeal." This is another way to look at the experience. So, if you are about to undergo surgery, or are preparing for the treatment of cancer, think about your body. How can you strengthen it, support it, and help it heal from the upcoming experience? Why not think about the ancient healing practice known as Reiki? Your body, your mind, and your spirit, will thank you for loving it enough to support it through the process. A single surgical clamp, placed on the bleeding vessels of a ruptured fallopian tube, can save a patient’s life. I know this because I have placed these clamps myself. Ten years ago a patient arrived in the emergency room of Grady Hospital, in shock from such a rupture and loss of blood. I was the Chief Resident on call for the surgical emergency. After placing the clamp, I instructed my pretty, wide-eyed junior resident to suction the half gallon of blood and clots from the patient’s abdomen and pelvis. I remember keeping my voice calm, to emphasize our achievement of total control – “Just another day in the emergency room, ma’am.” I tried not to swagger as we walked to the waiting room to reassure the patient’s family and give them the good news. But afterward, alone in the call room in my blood-stained scrubs, I allowed myself to bask in the full power of my accumulated years of study and training - and I felt the Cheshire cat smile of self-congratulation steal over my face. Always a mistake. The superb textbook Gynecologic and Obstetrical Surgery, edited by Dr. David Nichols, opens with Alexander Pope’s famous refrain, “A little learning is a dang’rous thing; Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian Spring; There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, And drinking largely sobers us again.” So many times I had flipped to that quote before diving into my studies. It was a warning to the overconfident. But on that day toward the end of my eighth year of training, I fell into the deep sleep of the self-satisfied. At last, I knew exactly what I was doing. A phone call later that month proved how wrong I was. The caller was Ife Sofola. Ife (pronounced Ee-fay) was one of my classmates from medical school. A tall, muscular Nigerian, Ife was not only a brilliant student, but a man of deep compassion and undeniable charisma. His easy smile, booming laugh, and lilting Nigerian accent were a comfort and delight to both friends and patients. At the time, he was a flight surgeon at the renowned Bethesda Naval Hospital – where our Presidents receive their medical care. Ife had called to let me know that his mother had died. But it wasn’t the tragedy of her death he wanted to share with me. He wanted to talk about the miracle. Months earlier, Ife’s family had found out that his mother was dying from liver failure. Brought to the Bethesda Naval Hospital, she fell into a coma. She was put under DNR orders – “Do Not Resuscitate.” These orders are reserved for patients who cannot be saved. The words are a kind of final acknowledgement: that modern medicine has failed the patient, that we can do nothing - that Death is coming. But Ife and his siblings were not ready to let go of their mother. Already, they were bitter from the loss of their father, who had died earlier that year. The looming loss of their mother was more than could be borne. Desperate, Ife’s sister took it upon herself to search deeper. A friend of a friend of a friend was reputed to be a “healer” – someone who could save life, where others had failed. Ife’s sister flew the healer to America from Nigeria, keeping it secret from her family until the healer arrived at Bethesda. A student of medical science, Ife especially among the family was agitated and unbelieving. But agreeing that there was nothing to be lost, Ife and his siblings permitted the healer’s presence. The healer directed them all to hold hands around the dying woman’s bed. They prayed in silence for five minutes. Then the healer announced, “It is done.” And with that, he took a taxi to the airport. Twenty minutes later, Ife’s mother awoke. She smiled and greeted her family, and got up to take a shower. As Ife told it to me, there were no words to describe how dumbstruck were her physicians. And Ife himself, now exuberant and believing and full of unadulterated joy, raced and leaped down the hallways in his white coat, yelling so that all could hear, proclaiming in his deep voice “A miracle has occurred! Here, at Bethesda! A MIRACLE!” Within a few weeks of this incident, Ife’s mother had again succumbed to her disease, and died. But not before she had left the hospital and spent precious days with her children at home, saying good-bye. Her explanation of what had happened was unforgettable and profound. “I came back,” she said to her children, “so you would have faith.” Ife’s story left me dumbstruck. I spent a long moment considering what it meant. The power of modern medicine is an illusion - my swaggering sense of mastery as a Chief Resident, the gratitude of the patients and their families – it is all a thin veneer over what is really happening. The substance of that is something that is forever beyond our reach. It is in the realm of the Unknowable, of God - the Source of Life. The other day a patient expressed to me that she was confident in her upcoming surgery, “because I have faith in you.” A decade ago I would have enjoyed that kind of comment. The trust and respect of patients is a blessing, and the physician has a charge to assume responsibility for healing his patients, as much as is humanly possible. But the truth is that we are all participants - patients and physicians alike - holding hands in a circle of healing, and praying for a miracle. And we are blessed with this miracle of healing everyday that we live. Ife ended his call to me with his own revelation. And although he had recently lost his mother, his tone was not one of grief, but of excitement. “Michael,” Ife said to me, his voice trembling, “how many hours did we spend in the lecture hall? How many books have we read? How many operations have we performed? We think we are doctors so we must know something about life and death?” He paused for a long moment. “I tell you this, Michael – we know nothing. Nothing.” I told him our conversation had changed my life. Ife laughed a long time. “And well it should, Michael. And well it should.
___________________________________________________________________________________ ©Being Well: The Art of Healing Humans have been able to shrink tumors, heal themselves of Aids and many other diseases, and create health and balance once again! How do they do it? The same way nature does it. Take, for example, a plant. There's the part of the plant that grows above the soil that brings in nourishment from the sun through photosynthesis, and the part that grows below. If you cut off the stem or the part that grows above the soil, the plant will regenerate itself and grow new shoots. If you cut off the roots, the plant will die unless you put the shoots in water so it can grow new roots. If the plant is not given the proper amount of water, it will eventually die. If the soil the roots live in is deprived of nutrients, the plant cannot create its own defenses against insects and disease. Our bodies are very similar to the plant. We cannot create our own defenses against disease if we are deprived of essential nutrients, or if we don't learn to handle stress in our lives (by simplifying our lifestyle and choosing our thoughts). Stress can also cause premature aging, and imbalances in the body. Stress causes our adrenals to produce too much Cortisol. When Cortisol levels are too high, it causes stress on the immune system and creates vitamin deficiencies, sleep disorders and numerous other things - a vicious cycle. Our organs are like the leaves of the plant. The nourishment comes in from the food and water we give them, then the organs are able to assimilate this, and turn it into components the body can use. These nutrients flow through our bloodstream, providing nourishment throughout the body. Like the roots of the plant, we utilize all the nutrients we get from the environment we create. If we give ourselves the elements we need such as fresh air to breathe, clean water to drink, fresh organic foods to eat, exercise (so that our muscles stay firm and we stay nourished with oxygen), and take care of our emotional well-being... then we can stay disease free. Our emotional well-being is so important for our innate ability to heal ourselves. Disease in our bodies usually starts out as dis-ease with something in our lives. We are energetic beings, and the thoughts we choose will manifest into physical form. Scientists are now proving how thought forms are energy, and they are relating physics with metaphysics - everything is interconnected (The Synchronized Universe by scientist Claude Swanson, PhD, is a good book to read on the subject). For example, if we feel anger, and don't let go of the anger or heal the situation, then that anger will stay with us, and the body will slowly absorb it, and it will manifest itself somewhere in the body causing disease. With our thoughts alone, we can remove the underlying cause (the anger, hurt, guilt, or whatever the unresolved emotion is) and allow our bodies to heal. Our thoughts are so powerful... Some forms of metaphysical healing such as Reiki are wonderful for clearing on the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual levels. Reiki helps to relieve stress, which in turn reduces Cortisol levels and assists in bringing balance to the body and mind. Reiki works with the energy fields, and with negative energies trapped inside the body as well as outside the body, before they manifest into disease. This helps free the person of the underlying root causes of their dis-ease; thus, enabling the body to heal itself (along with wholesome foods and exercise) and brings clarity to the mind. This is one of the components to health and well-being. Capture for yourself the art of healing, and living in harmonious balance. ___________________________________________________________________________ A Doctor Uses Reiki By Dr. R. B. Paty; Chief Medical Officer, India I am a medical doctor and have been in practice for 28 years. I have come across many patients who cannot be cured by any of our conventional methods. Before learning Reiki, I suffered with migraine headaches for 20 years; specifically I would get them on the day of my fast. After becoming a Reiki practitioner, my migraines have disappeared for the last four years. A couple who are my patients, ages 70 and 62 had good results with Reiki. He would begin his mornings with alcoholic drinks and his wife had severe arthritis. She was unable to sit on the floor and had very limited mobility for 25 years. I began to give them Reiki as part of their treatment. They have both become Reiki and Karuna Reiki® practitioners, and the husband no longer has the desire for alcohol. The wife is more comfortable and has greater mobility. Another patient, an officer in my organization had been diagnosed with mental illness. He was receiving psychiatric treatment. After receiving regular Reiki treatments, and still under psychiatric supervision, he was gradually able to stop his medications. He is now a popular Reiki practitioner and is healing many patients. These are just a few brief stories of our use of Reiki here in India that I wanted to share with you. * Editors note. We do not recommend that patients change or stop their medication without the supervision of a qualified doctor. If Reiki is used in the treatment of any medical or psychiatric condition, we recommend that a patient inform the doctor and ask the doctor to supervise any change in medication. ___________________________________________________________________________ Vibrational Medicine: Chakras & Etheric Bodies by Dr. Richard Gerber Our physical body is surrounded by a cocoon of light, called the aura. It is often described as egg-shaped. Light energy is drawn into this egg, which acts like a prism, changing the light (or breaking it down) into its component color elements. Color energy then enters the body vibrating along the nerve centers and through the chakras. According to Dr. Richard Gerber in his book, Vibrational Medicine , "The chakras are dimensional portals within the subtle bodies which take in and process energy of a higher vibrational nature so that it may be properly assimilated and used to transform the physical body." (page 370). ___________________________________________________________________________ Healing: Giving Credit where Credit Is DueBy Mike Litrel M.D.The young mother-to-be was already in the operating room when I arrived at Northside Hospital-Cherokee. Minutes earlier the nurses had called me in. The patient had been in the elevator headed for labor and delivery when her water had suddenly ruptured. The umbilical cord – the lifeline between the baby and the mother - had fallen out. It was a surgical emergency. The patient hadn’t seen a doctor her entire pregnancy. When I came in she was screaming and writhing on the narrow operating room table. Her cervix wasn’t completely opened, so her baby couldn’t simply be pulled out. A crash cesarean was the only option. I looked over at the anesthesiologist. No time to put on scrubs: he was in his street clothes, and so was I. He put the patient to sleep the fast way as the nurses splashed on some Betadine and covered her with drapes. I made the incision, a foot long, straight down from her belly button. The baby was out in twenty seconds. But he was unconscious, with no apparent pulse. The pediatrician began CPR, as I brought the mother’s bleeding under control. Rapid action and shouts had filled the operating room before the delivery. But now, as we caught our breath and finished the job, there was only silence. My hands were shaking from the adrenaline. Were we fast enough? A minute later, a faint cry provided the answer. “You can do it, baby!” the pediatrician said. As the cry got steadily louder, happiness spread contagiously amongst us, and the operating room was soon abuzz with excited voices. This had been a close one. It was after midnight when we finished. Cookies and juice at the nurse’s station made for an impromptu party, as we celebrated our success before going back home. In retrospect, with a healthy mother in the recovery room and a crying baby in the nursery, the delivery had been a lot of fun. It had been stressful, too, but that’s just part of the job. And besides, it wasn’t nearly as stressful as what was on my agenda the next evening – Shopping for groceries with my children. In the operating room you get the illusion of control. There is only one task to do, a task for which you have trained extensively, and a half dozen skilled people are gathered around, all dedicated to helping you accomplish this task. But in the grocery store, alone with your children, you suddenly realize you have had no formal training. And no one’s coming to help you. Can we get this, Daddy? Why not, Daddy? Please, please, Daddy! But I want it, Daddy. I don’t like you, Daddy. How about this? How about that? I felt hoarse from yelling and we hadn’t even made it out of the produce aisle. There we were, Kroger’s own private demolition team: me with the grocery cart navigating unfamiliar terrain, my boys running up and down the aisles, grabbing things off the shelves, knocking things down, arguing, whining, crying…. I was about to go berserk. I could feel the last remains of my hair falling out. Of course, this was when I was hailed by someone who knew me. It took me a moment to place her and then I felt embarrassed. It was a patient of mine. I had done her surgery a while back. It’s unavoidable for friends and family to witness my parental struggles, but one likes to keep some veneer of professionalism intact for one’s patients. But she seemed more bemused than anything else. She had done very well since her hysterectomy and bladder surgery, she told me, no longer having any pain or leakage. I was gratified, but when her appreciation became profuse, I felt awkward. As a mentor used to tell me, “People get better, despite what we surgeons do, not because of what we do.” I knew I was not responsible for her healing. I was more a witness to it than anything else, and I told her as much. She understood what I was saying and then shared with me a remarkable story. A dozen years earlier, her two year old was hospitalized for a life threatening infection. Her daughter was so dehydrated she couldn’t lift her head without assistance. My patient, distraught and frightened, never left her daughter’s bedside. Late one night in her vigil, as my patient rummaged through her daughter’s diaper bag, a book fell out. It was a book about faith written by Norman Vincent Peale. A friend had given it to her. My patient had always been very scientifically minded, and didn’t give much credence to prayer and faith. But, desperate for her daughter’s well being, she decided to give it a try. Fearful of embarrassment should someone see her, she closed the door before kneeling next to her child’s crib. Desperately she prayed, “Dear God, if you are real, please heal my child.” As she touched her daughter’s face, she felt a jolt of energy rush through her daughter’s body. And the little girl, who had been unable to even lift her head, awoke as though it were morning, and began to crawl around her crib. Within hours her improvement was dramatic and undeniable, and in a few days, she left the hospital. Sometimes we physicians are guilty of the comfortable belief that we have everything under control. Technology, pharmaceuticals, and surgery provide a great arsenal against disease and suffering. But let’s be honest - we don’t really understand what is going on. No medical library contains the answer to the question why do we heal?
All medical therapies have risks. But no matter what assistance is provided, the gift of healing is never less than a miracle. So before you submit to a knife or a pill or a chiropractic adjustment, I might suggest trying a form of therapy with no risks, and sometimes, surprising benefits - Prayer. ___________________________________________________________________________ ©The Healing Powers of Reiki & Magnetic Energy By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht.
Healing is something we all need in one form or another, and we can take our health and well-being into our own hands by being responsible for ourselves. One way is to know how to use the Universal Life Force, or Chi. The Earth’s magnetic field supplies us with vital energy. This primal force is the foundation of life because it also shapes atoms and molecules, according to scientists around the world.
Cells are ordered by magnetism. Atoms & molecules are micro magnets with a plus and minus pole, comparable to the North & South poles. Our bodies also have a plus and minus pole; and we, too, have a magnetic field within us and around our bodies (the aura). Because everything is made up of atoms & molecules, every structure is determined by magnetism. Communications in the body take place via miniscule electric currents and the electromagnetic frequencies they generate. If magnetism is the foundation of every process of life, the disturbance to this magnetism will result in chaos and degeneration ... including in our bodies!
And that is exactly what is being observed – an increase in degenerative diseases and chaotic explosions of violence among humans. People are losing contact with the natural frequencies that support life. Russian cosmonauts were becoming sick when out in space and away from the Earth’s magnetic field. When their space station was equipped with a “magnetism generator”, the cosmonauts’ symptoms disappeared.
What’s causing these disturbances in our magnetic field? Appliances, radio waves, computers, cell phones and just about all sources of electrical energy are the main culprits.
The ancient cultures, especially the Chinese, Japanese and Egyptians had individuals who could “magnetize” their hands. Austrian physician Franz Anton Mesmer also successfully applied this type of magnetism in the 18th century. The success of his treatment method was so striking that the medical profession of his time felt threatened and wanted to have Mesmer beheaded. Mesmer was eventually released, and this type of “magnetization” is still practiced by healers today.
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a form of “hands-on” healing which utilizes the Universal Life Force (Chi) energies and balances the “poles” (like the North & South poles) in our bodies. What Mesmer was not able to prove scientifically back then has been proven now. Dr. Robert Becker, Orthopedics Professor, has demonstrated that the healers who magnetize their hands (by rubbing them together, and through the power of intention) are in sync with the frequency of the Earth’s natural magnetic field. This magnetic field is called the Schuman Resonance. This same frequency also resonates at the same Hz levels that heal muscle, bone & tissue, as well as emotional and mental issues. The primal force is activated, and we become more attuned with the natural healing force of the Universe.
Dr. Zimmerman (1990) in the USA and Dr. Seto (1992) in Japan further investigated the large pulsating biomagnetic field that is emitted from the hands of energy practitioners while they work. They discovered that the pulses are in the same frequencies as brain waves, and sweep up and down from 0.3 – 30 Hz, focusing mostly in 7 – 8 Hz, alpha state. Independent medical research has shown that this range of frequencies will stimulate healing in the body, with specific frequencies being suitable for different tissues. For example, 2 Hz encourages nerve regeneration, 7 Hz bone growth, 10 Hz ligament mending, and 15 Hz capillary formation.
Physiotherapy equipment based on these principles has been designed to aid soft tissue regeneration, and ultra sound technology is commonly used to clear clogged arteries and disintegrate kidney stones. Also, it has been known for many years that placing an electrical coil around a fracture that refuses to mend will stimulate bone growth and repair.
Dr. Becker explains that "brain waves" are not confined to the brain, but travel throughout the body via the perineural system, the sheaths of connective tissue surrounding all the nerves. During a Reiki treatment, these waves begin as relatively weak pulses in the thalamus of the practitioner's brain, and gather cumulative strength as they flow to the peripheral nerves of the body, including the hands. The same effect is mirrored in the person receiving treatment, and Becker suggests that it is this system, more than any other, that regulates injury repair and system rebalance. This highlights one of the special features of Reiki - that both practitioner and client receive the benefits of a treatment, which makes it very efficient.
Many of my clients feel this magnetic energy while I’m working on clearing and balancing their energy field. Reiki helps the body and its subtle layers to get back in balance, and enables the body to heal itself. Over the years of practicing Reiki I’ve had numerous clients who healed from diseases, and their tumors would shrink or disappear altogether by using the healing energy of Reiki.
What makes Reiki different from other forms of energy healing is the special attunements a student receives during a Reiki class. The attunement process creates a burst of this healing energy to channel through the practitioner’s crown chakra and out their palms instantly creating a magnetic “balance”. This magnetism is our primal force – an incredible healing energy and foundation for all of life. You have the power in your own hands, and you can enhance it by taking a Reiki class. Self-healing and working with the magnetic energy available to us can create health & well-being. Reiki heals on all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually. Use this vital energy to repair your atoms & molecules for a more vibrant life. This magnetized energy can assist you in your healing while seeing your health practitioner – or if you’re not ill, to be in the most optimum health.

Reiki and Breast Cancer By Margaret Dubay Mikus, Ph.D. This is a story of courage, hope and success in one woman's healing from breast cancer. By nature I am a practical and cautious person. My educational background is in science, I hold a B.S. in zoology and a Ph.D. in microbiology. Serious illnesses have transformed my life in unexpected ways, drawing me into the world of complementary medicine. Using my own combination of therapies, I was successful in healing from multiple sclerosis. In June of 1996 I was diagnosed with two different cancers, one in each breast. At the time I was only 44 years old and had few major risk factors for breast cancer. After much consideration I chose to combine conventional medicine with my own blend of unconventional therapies. I integrated surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, Reiki, spiritual connection, energy balancing, visualization, psychotherapy, affirmations and yoga. I formed a healing circle for family and friends who sent me positive energy and prayers. At every stage I used Reiki, sometimes in quite unusual ways. I never felt helpless because I could use Reiki, regardless of what was happening to me. I used Reiki directly on the larger tumor, which did not vanish, but according to the pathology report, the cancer was breaking down. There could be other explanations besides Reiki, but it was an intriguing finding. Before surgery, I was quite fearful. I decided to give myself Reiki sessions regularly and for about two weeks I sent Reiki every night to the surgeon and the surgical team to ensure the best healing experience for all of us. The surgery was to take place in a large teaching hospital and I was afraid that my needs would get lost in the cold technical atmosphere. On the day of surgery I encountered only warm and supportive people. I requested only local anesthesia so I could be fully aware the whole time. I was able to speak to each person on the medical team myself. I sent Reiki into the cold surgical suite. As surgery progressed, I asked to see the tissue samples that were excised, sending them off to the lab with my blessing. Everyone was most caring and considerate. My sense was that the Reiki energy set up a deeply healing experience for all members of the team, including me. I felt most empowered and the surgeon, nurses, resident and medical students were exposed to a very different way of doing medicine. After surgery I sent Reiki directly into the bandaged areas. Even though large amounts of tissue were removed, I needed painkillers for only one day following the double lumpectomy. Scarring has been minimal and internal healing has been amazing. Much of the breast tissue has filled back in! About a month after surgery I prepared for four chemotherapy sessions, as recommended by my medical team. To prepare for this I had an advanced Reiki attunement, and received a full Reiki treatment before each session. Bill Farber, the Reiki Master/Practitioner also did some psychic surgery. The night following each chemotherapy session I used 10 to 15 minutes of Reiki treatments directly on my abdomen, along with acupressure bands on my wrists to control nausea. Reiki also helped boost my immune function. As seen in blood tests prior to each chemotherapy session, my immune cells stayed within normal healthy range, allowing me to complete the treatments on time. The night before my last chemo treatment, after much consideration and consultation with a number of health care professionals, I decided not to take the anti-nausea drugs that were prescribed for nighttime. I felt the negative side effects of these drugs outweighed the positive benefits for me, but this was a very personal decision. In addition to Reiki, this time I used energy balancing techniques, a ritual to call spiritual guides to my aid, and used Reiki to bless my drinking water. I incorporated affirmations from the book "Heal Your Body" by Louise Hay. I listened very carefully when my body spoke to me. If it wanted three sips of water, I gave it exactly three sips of water. I made it through the night and awoke clear-headed, feeling a tremendous sense of empowerment and success. One month later I began radiation treatments. I used Reiki to help recover from the burns, as well as the emotional and spiritual effects of cancer treatment, which is very stressful. Probably my most unusual use of Reiki was during the actual administration of the gamma rays. I drew the Reiki Master power symbol and the distant symbol in the path of the radiation beam, calling on the spiritual guides to help protect me from harm and to help send the gamma ray energy to the earth, which is so in need of energy. I also used visualization techniques. I continued this during 23 sessions, each time with eight different positions. I continued to use Reiki in the post-cancer treatment recovery period. I knew from my inner guidance that the cancer was gone and would not return. All medical tests done so far confirm this. I have done what I needed to do to heal completely on all levels, body, mind and spirit. Reiki was a crucial part of my integrated approach to recovery from life-threatening illness and difficult medical treatment. I think this is the future of Reiki, that each individual will find the combination of healing tools that is right for them, selecting from a large "menu" of choices. We are limited only by our openness and our imagination. It has been my experience that the healing of one individual heals all around them. I continue to use Reiki on a daily basis in my own journey to wholeness. I have also created two volumes entitled: Shrink Wrapped and Heat Sealed: Writings to Nurture and Heal Body, Mind and Spirit Book I and Book 2. These contain the writings I collected during my cancer treatment, including poems, photographs, letters and inner listening conversations. These pieces have been very healing for me and for others. I use them in my workshop series "Expanding Our Possibilities", which is designed for groups of adults or children. If children learn these skills early, they'll be better able to heal as they go through life. My intention is to spread the word! Copyright 1998 by Margaret Dubay Mikus. Reprinted with permission. Reiki Heals Chemical Burns By Mike Willett This story is for all Doubting Thomases of the divinity of Reiki. In December, 1997 I was working with a liquid in my lab at a chemical company that reached 550 degrees F. and it blew up in my face. I stepped under the safety shower. The liquid covered my face, neck, chest and left arm. I ran to the mirror to see skin sliding down my face and my lips were white and cracking. I was rushed to the hospital where they applied only cold compresses and later antibiotics. The doctor reported second and third degree burns on my face and neck. I went home and looked in the mirror and asked God not to leave me looking like this. I had received Reiki I & II in 1989. I started to apply Reiki on my face, and used it several times during the day for the entire week prior to my return visit to the hospital. I returned with no noticeable scars or discoloration to my face. I did not even have the typical pinkness of the new skin that accompanies a burn. In April of 1998 I became a Reiki Master myself. I thank God for intervening and all my Reiki guides that have helped me to realize that intent and prayer can carry you beyond physical boundaries. _________________________________________________________________________ Reiki Helps Hysterectomy By Emilie Garman I was facing an operation to have fibroid tumors removed. The fibroids in my uterus had been growing slowly over a 15-year period. Now, after menopause, they continued to grow at an accelerated rate. After consulting with my gynecologist, we realized all alternatives were exhausted and I needed a hysterectomy. The thought of being operated on made me a nervous wreck. As the date for surgery grew closer, it became hard for me to have a peaceful night's sleep. I often awoke in the middle of the night seeing myself being wheeled into the operating room. Luckily, my friend Doug had just started to study Reiki a few months before. He offered to come the night before the operation and apply what he had learned on me. I agreed. I rested on the couch, listened to soothing music, and Doug applied the Reiki touch. After about 45 minutes I was so relaxed I could hardly get off the couch. That night I slept soundly until morning. Two weeks before the operation a pint of my own blood was stored in case of need. However, my doctor's words after the operation were "The operation went well, with very little bleeding." I felt that Reiki had helped. The next day, as hospital routine dictated, I had to walk. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I ached, I was nauseous and my eyes wouldn't focus. While I was feeling so miserable, along came Doug into the hospital room. He gave me a Reiki treatment and within minutes all those miserable symptoms disappeared. Reiki worked for me and I made sure I told my doctor about my Reiki experience. I hope more people will be helped before and after operations with Reiki. Emilie Garman lives in Poughkeepsie, NY __________________________________________________________________________ ©Scientific Studies of Metaphysical Healing By Marilyn Cramer, RMT, Cl.Ht. Scientists around the world are discovering that Reiki, and other forms of energy healing succeed, and they are all based on theories of Quantum Physics. The discovery and investigation of electromagnetic phenomena in the early part of the 19 th century led to the concept of the field, or Field Theory. A field was defined as a condition in space that has the potential of producing a force. Thus, the concept of a universe filled with fields that create forces that interact with each other was born. Here is a scientific framework with which we could explain our ability to affect one another at a distance through means other than speech and sight. This explains some of our experiences such as hearing the phone ring and knowing who is calling, or thinking of someone and they call at that moment. This theory also taps into the field of telepathy. Physicists say that the whole universe appears as a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns. If the universe is composed of such a web, there is no such thing as a part. Thus, we are not separated parts of a whole... we are a whole. Dr. David Bohm said in his book, The Implicate Order , that "parts are seen to be in immediate connection, in which their dynamical relationships depend in a irreducible way on the state of the whole system". Dennis Gabor received a Nobel Prize for constructing the first hologram in 1971. Every piece of the hologram is an exact representation of the whole and will reconstruct the entire image. Barbara Ann Brennan, a former research scientist for NASA and now a practicing healer and psychotherapist, says "The ability to see inside the body at any level with a varying resolution could imply the use of additional dimensions. The ability to perceive events from the past by simply asking for that information, or to see a probable event and then to change that event by intervening through the healing process, could imply nonlinear time. The ability to see an event that will take place in the future goes beyond linear time. She goes on to state, "From the holographic framework of reality each piece of the aura not only represents, but also contains, the whole. Thus, we can only describe our experience with a phenomenon that we both at the same time observe and create." Reiki is based on the universal laws and quantum physics. Everything in this dynamic web of life is interconnected. Intention is powerful... our thoughts are a powerful energy connected with all other energy. I believe intent is everything when working with a client. My intent to be the best channel possible for my client's healing (utilizing the Universal Life Force or Chi), and to stay focused on their healing is of utmost importance. During this focused meditative state, I'm observing energy imbalances in their body and aura, and helping to create (through intention) a new outcome of balance, harmony and well-being. Meditation is one way of transcending the limits of the linear mind, and allows the connectedness of all things to become an experiential reality. Becoming a healer means to move toward this universal creative power, which is actually love. Love is the true healer of all things. It's becoming one with God/Goddess, the Great Omnipresence, this divine consciousness which is within all of us.
